They Saw the Giant

I have been dismayed before. Had problems, looming.
I have quaked with panic, unable to breathe, terrified.
I get it. What that whole army of healthy, stronger-than-me, men did.
"The Isrealites, to a man, fell back the moment they saw the giant-- totally frightened." 1 Samuel 17:24
They saw the giant.
That's all.
Goliath was their focus. This towering, threatening issue.
It terrified them. So they cowered. Withdrew. Fell back. Even ran.
You see, that's what difficulties do.
Tower.
Threaten.
Frighten.
Here's the surprise. Along comes runty David. A pipsqueak of a kid. He's probably not much stronger than me.
His brother thought he was looking for an escape from his chores.
His taller-than-other-men king viewed him as a child.
His foe, this whopper of a dilemma, only sneered with ridicule.
But this youngster had more wisdom than a whole army. Than me, quaking.
They saw a behemoth. David saw God. God who was bigger than any predictiment. Ever.
David answered, " You come at me with sword and spear and battle ax. I come at you in the name of God-of-the-Angel-Armies.....The whole earth will know there is an extraordinary God in Isreal." 1 Samuel 17:45-46
It all depends on your focus.
What do I see?
A difficulty, looming?
Or my God, extraordinary?
The next mammoth I face, I want to run towards it, with my God, who-is-bigger-than-ANY-giant, at my side. Because my God? He can slay even the most immense with the smallest of stones.
Imagine that. Towering problem. Knee-knocking fear. Larger-than-anything God. And with one insignificant pebble, the trouble is removed. All that terror, wiped out, in a moment. Because my God? That's what He can do.
The frosting on the cake? The enemy runs.
"When the Philistines saw their great champion was dead, they scattered, running for their lives." 1 Samuel 17:51
They saw the giant.
What do you see?
