"Absolutely! God is capable of all things! It is not too difficult for Him to give a dead body life. "
I was absolutely certain of this truth and one other. We are asking God the wrong question. As humans, we are often concerned about circumstances, what appears to be true. Our Lord has a different perspective. He is more concerned with the state of our hearts. The question we need to be asking, is not "Can He?", or even "Will He?", but rather, "Will we?". Will we trust Him with whatever He decides? Will we thank Him as a demonstration of that trust? Will we yield to Him, even in this?
It is unbearably sad when a child dies. Even devastating. But that does not change the truth of His love. A child's death is not outside the realm of His goodness. God Himself witnessed the suffering and death of His own Son. He knows all about sadness and heartache. He gets it. He understands. And thus He knows how to minister to us in the midst of our own misery.
It is so easy for us to believe that our story is at the center of this world. We forget that it is only one small piece in an endless jigsaw puzzle. Only Jesus knows the beginning of it. Only Jesus knows it's end. Yet He chooses to be intimately acquainted with all our ways, with we, who are less than a speck of dust in His eyes. He chooses to involve Himself in our story giving only good.
Yes, He is more than able. Yes, we are asking the wrong question.
When will we stop making Him so small? When will we trust Him who knows all things or yield to such endless Grace? When will we bow down to worship Him, who knows best of all?
