His Royal Highness

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16

There has been a lot of chatter in the news recently, about the Royal Baby. There was even a squib regarding his "proper" title. "His Royal Highness, Prince George of Cambridge."
I wonder what it would require to have an audience with said Prince. Then I wonder what it would require to have an audience with the Queen of England, herself.
You wouldn't dare approach her throne without pre-approval, proper protocol and explicit permission.
You wouldn't dare.
Yet, the King of all Kings, The Lord who reigns over all, invites us, to approach His throne.
Boldly.
If I were to approach her Majesty, the Queen, I would be wearing a whole new outfit, have clear instructions on appropriate behavior and only speak the correct words.
Imagine waltzing up to her throne, just as you are now, at this moment. Shorts. T-shirt. May be sweaty. Hair mussed.
Preposterous. Unheard of.
Yet, here is God, His Royal Highness, inviting. You. Me.
Without fear.
Without repercussions.
For His throne is different from the Queen's.
Hers is a throne of expectations.
His is a throne of grace.
Hers is a throne of requirements.
His is a throne of help.
The Queen may offer an audience, occasionally.
The Lord on High offers mercy, continually.
I may never visit the Queen of England. Or the Royal Baby.
But I certainly will approach the throne of grace, that I have an invitation to.
Daily. Hourly. Moment by moment.
Boldly.
For His Royal Highness, the King of Kings, awaits me, there.
